How this calculation works

For Today’s Value: future goal cost = today’s cost × (1 + annual inflation)years. For Future Value: the amount you enter is the goal target; inflation is not applied.

We assume an equal contribution at the end of every month, starting one month from today, and a constant effective annual growth rate. The equivalent monthly rate is (1 + annual growth)1/12 − 1.

Monthly investment = future goal cost × monthly rate ÷ ((1 + monthly rate)number of months − 1). At 0% growth, the monthly amount is simply the future goal cost divided by the number of months.

Total invested and projected growth use the rounded-up monthly amount. Growth represents modeled returns rather than guaranteed interest. No separate tax or fee calculation is applied.

This is a planning illustration. Actual goal costs and investment returns may differ from your assumptions. Review your progress and adjust contributions over time.
